About
Is Emmaus Road off some highway in…?
Nope. The name Emmaus Road (pronounced uh-may-uhs) is based on an account in Luke 24. Jesus has been crucified and buried. Three days later, his tomb is inexplicably found empty. Two unnamed disciples, frustrated and confused over these recent events, walk along a road to the town of Emmaus. There they encounter a stranger and share the awful news. Later, sharing a meal with this person, their eyes are opened to His identity – the risen Jesus Christ!
We chose Emmaus Road as a name for our community because we identify with the journey of these disciples. We don’t always have the right answers. We get discouraged and fearful. Sometimes we just want to run away. And yet Jesus, the Risen One, shows up in the strangest places and when we least expect Him, showing us the truth and giving us the courage to carry on.
